OUR HISTORY

With the bountiful blessings of Lord Guruvayurappan, a group of devout Bhaktas founded in 1966 the Shri Guruvayurappan Bhakta Samaj, which was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 under certificate no. A-2757 (Bombay). It was subsequently resolved to construct a temple for Lord Guruvayurappan with manifold objective of a spiritual and cultural Centre with a hall for the pursuit and propagation of spiritual knowledge besides promoting the spirit of brotherhood and selfless service to humanity. With due emphasis on the afore-said objectives, and as a preliminary step, a piece of land admeasuring about 497 sq. mt was acquired in May 2000 from CIDCO, at Plot 59 A, Sector 29, Vashi, Navi Mumbai - 400703.

The construction of the Temple along with the complete building is being carried out in  phased manner. The construction of a Balalayam (Temporary home of the Dieties) and the structural work of 1st. two floors was taken up in the first phase and was completed  in January 2006. The Balalayam  was consecrated on 2-2-2006 with adequate religious fervor under the able guidance of our temple Tantri Shri Pottakuzhi Narayana Namboodiri.

With a new found confidence,  along with the abundant blessings of Lord Guruvayurappan and last but not the least, the unstinted co-operation and financial support from the devotees, the gigantic task of the main temple for Lord Guruvayurappan in the second phase was taken up in March 2009.

The Main Temple construction in complete Kerala style and ambience was entrusted to Shri Kannipayur Kuttan Nambuthiripad, an expert in the field of vastu and Kerala temple architecture, in March 2009. It was only after the Aadharashila  Prathishta Puja in June 2009, the construction activity got a good impetus.

The granite Sanctum-Sanctorum and a Mukhamandapam for Lord Guruvayurappan  along with the Sri Kovil work for the three Upadevatas Sri Ganapathi, Sri Dharmashastha and  Devi Rajarajeshwari came to shape with the skillful artisians from Kerala giving their best. The 2nd phase construction of “Vashi Guruvayurappan Temple complex” with all concreting and finishing work for the first and second floor and work for side wall for the temple hall and amenities was meticulously carried out with the available resources and time frame.

With the completion of the temple complex, conducting the consecration of  idols and Samprokshnam for the four revered Sannidhis  was planned between 22nd. January 2010 and 2nd. February 2010. The Prana Prathista of the Sannidhis was done on 27th. January 2010.
